The 20-25 hp 102x140 mm four cylinder engined Crossley was used throughout the 1920's by the Military services and civilian tradesmen alike, due to its robust and versatile goods carrying capabilities.
To make it more versatile, in being able to go over very rough roads pneumatic tyres were fitted.

Crossley Motors was a factory in Gorton near Manchester that built cars, trucks, buses, trolleybuses and motorcycles for other manufacturers from 1906 to 1958. Crossley was a major manufacturer of transport equipment for the British Army. Crossley was acquired by AEC who eventually ceased production of Crossley.

Interesting fact: The (Y26-1) 1918 Crossley Delivery Truck joined the range in 1984. It was originally going to be a continuation of the (Y13-3) Crossley but as it had a barrel load it was given the new number Y26. The body was as the Y13 model but the sides of the bed were smoothed off to assist in the applying of the tampo decoration.
